Summary of Continuous Improvement Plan

ASSIST​ ​Continuing​ ​Improvement​ ​Plan​ ​(ACIP) Summary​ ​of​ ​Goals,​

Objectives,​ ​Strategies,​ ​and​ ​Activities Goals:

  1. Reduce Truancy
  2. Increase student proficiency in the core academic subjects of reading and math
  3. Increase reading and speaking skills in EL students in grades 3-5

Objectives:

  • Decrease by 1% the number of students with 7 or more unexcused absences
  • Increase student growth in reading and math by 2% in grades 3-5 as measured by Scantron Performance Series
  • Increase student growth in reading by 2% for students in K-2 as measured by DIBELS
  • Increasing 3% of EL students test scores by 1.75% as measured by ACCESS 2.0

Strategies:

  • Attendance Monitoring, Mentoring Sessions,Positive Behavior Supports, Celebrations, and Intervention Plans
  • Morphology, Professional Development Opportunities, Multi-sensory Training, Fact Fluency, Investigations, Phonics First, and National Geographic Cengage Learning
  • Class size reduction units

Activities:

  • Attendance tracking and intervention - attendance will be tracked for all students with an intervention plan for specific students that are truant. All students will receive mentoring sessions at least once monthly. Students identified for attendance tracking will focus on attendance and removing barriers to school attendance through learning supports during mentoring sessions. There will be celebrations to encourage and reward attendance.
  • Teachers will provide direct instruction in Phonics First. Teachers will also provide direct instruction on grade level sight words and Greek and Latin roots within grade level text. Students significantly below grade level will receive intensive intervention in Sounds Sensible, SPIRE, or REWARDS. Teachers will document explicit phonemic awareness and phonic instruction in lesson plans. Progress monitoring will be provided based on the specific needs of students
  • Students will increase their fact fluency to solve math problems by using technology software and manipulatives. The Instructional Technology Facilitator will provide support and demonstrate effective strategies to help student achievement. All teachers will utilize AMSTI curriculum and training.
  • National Geographic Cengage Learning Resources will be used with EL students in the EL classroom. The EL teacher will utilize a leveled library to increase vocabulary development for English Learners. The teacher will also familiarize the students to technological devices including computers, and iPads which will prepare them for computer assisted assessments as well as to gain needed skills. Various listening, speaking, writing and reading programs will be implemented with the EL students.
  • Teachers will participate in professional development/learning opportunities to obtain and practice instructional strategies that will result in increased student achievement across the curriculum.
  • A focus will allow for more student centered activities, collaboration, project-based learning, STEM activities, critical thinking, technology innovations, and students in charge of their own learning. Teachers will have adequate time to assess, plan, and collaborate to develop effective lessons/instruction to increase student proficiency in all subjects.
  • Student progress will be evaluated and discussed during monthly data meetings and weekly grade level meetings.
